Thursday, Feb 4th (I believe it’s Wednesday back home)
Unbelievable two days – highs and lows galore! We almost missed the first plane which would have unraveled the entire trip. The airline was paging us but we didn’t hear them. They were ready to leave early and we were just taking our time. We were lucky they held the plane for us.
Once we arrived in LA we had a 3 hour wait for the 13 hour trip to Seoul, Korea. Bill purchased the best two seats possible in coach for us. We had the leg room we needed and there was no one next to us but I still felt closed in so shortly after getting on the plane I took my first Xanax. To make a long story short, I ended up taking two more pills over the duration of the 13 hours. My body began to hurt. My skin hurt just to touch it. I was sure I had the H1N1 virus and would be locked in my room on board the ship for the entire cruise. I really felt horrible. I think I must have overdosed on the Xanax because by the next day I was fine. It was a long, long day. We finally arrived in Seoul, Korea but I was in really bad shape and we had a two hour delay before our five hour trip to Bangkok, Thailand. Bill so wanted to help me but there was nothing he could do. That five hour trip about killed me. It was the nightmare that I had been worrying about but I made it. Unfortunately, I was barely able to walk when we deplaned. My knee had locked up. Bill got me a wheelchair and thus began our time in Bangkok. We got to the hotel at 1:30 A.M. on Wednesday. We were both absolutely exhausted. Bill sat down on the bed in our room and was horrified at the hardness of the mattress. He was sure we’d never be able to sleep. Was he ever wrong! We were both asleep within minutes and when we woke the next day I was my old self. No jet lag at all for either of us. We slept so little on the plane that we just eased into this time zone. What a beginning!!!
