Bangkok, Thailand

We had one and a half days in Bangkok and what a time we’ve had! We started the day with a fabulous buffet breakfast. It was expensive but worth every cent. It was a great way to start our day. Bill had been researching Bangkok so he knew what we were going to do. We headed out to the sky train via the tuktuk (a motorcycle driven carriage), bought tickets like we knew what we were doing and hopped on. We took the sky train to the river, got off and hopped on the tourist boat headed towards the grand palace. Once we got there Bill managed to get us a private tour for the next several hours. I don’t know how he does this but he’s done it so often in the past and it always works beautifully. We saw the palaces of their king and had a private little shopping tour with Nancy (our tour guide). Nancy took us the jewelry factory and Bill ended up buying me a Ruby bracelet and Ruby earrings. What a fun surprise! After that Nancy took us to this incredible tailor shop. You should have seen all the fabrics- beautiful wools and silk. I didn’t want anything but Bill had always heard about getting a suit made in a day so he wanted to see how that worked. No suit for Bill, too much money for him to spend on himself. By the time we walked out of there I had been measured for two suits – pants, blouse, skirt and jacket. It was about 1:30 P.M by then and before we left the shop owner had made arrangements for a driver to pick us up at our hotel at 6:00 for a fitting. The suits will be delivered by 10:00 A.M. this morning. Incredible!
